Curtis Kyzima

Owner

Hey everyone, my name is Curtis Kyzima and I want to provide a bit of background on myself.

First off, I have been in the barbering industry for a long time. It all began in my parents’ basement in New Providence – where my mother, a lifelong hairdresser, helped me get started and ignited my passion for cutting hair. I was just 13 at the time, so my life basically consisted of cutting hair and playing basketball – pretty good time to be alive if you ask me. Every day, I would come home from school, go to basketball practice, then come home and cut hair until 10pm. As I got towards the later years of high school, I found myself with a pretty clear vision for the future.

After earning my cosmetology license and getting valuable experience under my belt, I opened my first barbershop when I was 23 years old. Through years of hard work, we built it into a top ten establishment in New Jersey, all while navigating the challenges of a global pandemic.

Over time, my business partner and I realized our differing visions for growth and direction. After four great years together, we mutually agreed to part ways, and I sold him my half of the company. I value the experience, and I look back fondly on the years we worked together. That being said, I’m looking forward to what the future holds. I’m excited for the opportunity to bring a barbershop to Whippany, NJ and to get involved with the community.
